GENERAL PRACTICES TO GOOD BALLROOM DANCING (and checklist)

FEET:

Maintain proper foot positions in all manuevers
Use proper foot placement (e.g. heel-to-ball-toe)
Maintain tone in feet through connection of feet to floor

LEGS:

No gaps between thighs ("hide your naughty parts")
Keep knees flexed ("compression")

HEAD:

spot your turns
keep head up
keep your eye gaze up ("you'll look good even if you don't know what you're doing")
establish eye contact with partner (in latin)

ARMS:

Keep free arm(s) up
Keep free arm(s) toned
Keep fingers in hand relaxed in free arm

POSTURE:

Align your blocks ("nose over toes")
Maintain straight lower spine (compress your rib cage)
Keep shoulders down ("not up in your ears")

ANGLES:

Maintain proper angles in & during all manuevers (e.g. LOD, diagonal center, etc.)

MENTAL ATTITUDE:

Attention to details, details, details!
Concentration & focus
Discipline & practice
